About the Opportunity

The successful candidate will be joining a friendly and supportive psychology department, working with young people from 16 years and up with complex mental health issues on a mental health unit at SWSLHD.

They will have the opportunity to work with a well-established mental health service, and a dynamic and enthusiastic multidisciplinary team, including nurses, consultant psychiatrists, psychiatric registrars, consultant psychiatrists, social workers, occupational therapists, and diversional therapists.

The Clinical Psychologist will be pivotal in conducting psychological assessments, presenting formulation to the treating team, and engaging the consumers in individual psychological interventions, contributing to the unit group program, and facilitating behavioural management support.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work autonomously, with support from the leadership team.

The Clinical Psychologist will also receive support, peer consultation, and supervision with other psychologists working in mental health.

Clinical Psychology Registrars will be considered for the role.

What You'll be Doing

The successful candidate will be conducting specialist clinical, psychological, psychosocial, diagnostic assessments to tailor the delivery of psychological interventions, and providing consultation to the multidisciplinary team to address the needs of consumers who are living with complex mental health problems and disorders.

The role also participates in the evaluation of clinical outcomes of services and assists in the development and provision of education and training programs. Additionally, the role supervises Psychologists and other disciplines working within the LHD according to organisational needs.

How to Apply

  • Full registration as a Psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia. Completion of an Australian Psychology Accreditation Council accredited postgraduate Clinical Psychology qualification of no less than two years full time duration or recognised equivalent.
  • Demonstrated competence in a wide range of psychological assessments and evidence based psychological treatments delivered on an individual and/or group basis
  • Demonstrated experience working independently in the provision of patient/consumer-focused care.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the quality improvement process for service development, implementation and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team to accomplish service goals and improved patient and/or consumer care and outcomes.
  • Demonstrated high level verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style to suit the target audience.
