About the Role
On behalf of our client, we are seeking an experienced and safety-focused Mobile Plant Operator to join their dynamic operations team. This role requires a skilled professional with comprehensive knowledge of heavy plant operation across various agricultural and earthmoving applications.The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in equipment handling, attachment management, and preventive maintenance, ensuring optimal performance and productivity across our client's diverse operational requirements.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Plant Operation & Equipment Handling- Safely transport and position mobile plant equipment between work sites, ensuring secure transit and proper setup for immediate operational readiness
- Execute precise manoeuvring and positioning of plant equipment in varied terrain and confined spaces, demonstrating exceptional spatial awareness and control
- Select and configure appropriate attachments for specific tasks, including earthmoving implements, grading equipment, and specialized agricultural tools
- Masterfully manipulate complex control systems to operate attachments through mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical interfaces for efficient material movement and processing
- Continuously monitor plant operation through direct observation and detailed instrument analysis, making real-time adjustments to optimize performance and efficiency
- Conduct comprehensive equipment condition assessments, performing minor repairs and adjustments to maintain operational readiness and minimize downtime
- Identify and accurately report mechanical faults and performance issues, providing detailed information to maintenance teams for prompt resolution
- Implement preventive maintenance routines and daily equipment checks, ensuring all plant meets safety standards and operational requirements
- Coordinate with site supervisors and team members to prioritize tasks and optimize workflow, contributing to efficient project completion and operational targets
- Adapt operating techniques to suit varying site conditions and project requirements, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving capabilities
- Maintain clear communication with ground crew and other operators, ensuring safe working practices and coordinated operations across multiple work areas
- Complete accurate operational records and documentation, including work reports, equipment logs, and maintenance requests
- Implement and adhere to all workplace health and safety protocols, conducting risk assessments and following safe operating procedures for all plant equipment
- Maintain current knowledge of equipment specifications, operational limitations, and industry best practices for mobile plant operation
- Participate in safety meetings and equipment training sessions, continuously developing skills and knowledge to enhance operational safety and efficiency
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and company policies related to plant operation and site safety
- Relevant plant operation certifications or AQF Certificate II in Mobile Plant Operations or equivalent qualification
- Minimum 1 year full-time experience operating mobile plant equipment in agricultural, construction, or industrial settings
- Demonstrated experience with various plant attachments and control systems, including hydraulic and electrical interfaces
- Strong mechanical aptitude with ability to perform minor repairs and identify potential equipment issues
- Excellent spatial awareness and equipment handling skills with precision control capabilities
- Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment while demonstrating strong autonomous work capabilities
- High level of safety consciousness with thorough understanding of risk management in plant operations
- Physical fitness and ability to work in varying weather conditions across multiple site locations
- Strong problem-solving skills and adaptability to changing operational requirements
- Reliable and committed approach to work with excellent time management and organizational skills
