About the Role
We have an opportunity available for a motivated Kitchen Hand to join our team here at Journey Beyond Cruise Sydney. This is a casual position with an immediate start. In this role, you are primarily responsible for assisting in the kitchen by preparing food, supporting meal services, and maintaining a clean kitchen area and equipment to comply with food safety guidelines.
The ideal candidate will be passionate and proud of the food and service they deliver and be willing to go above and beyond for our guests, crucial in achieving our goal of sharing special places and shaping lasting memories. You will be a team player with strong communication skills, a positive "can-do" attitude, and the flexibility to work varied hours including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
Working in close collaboration with the kitchen and marine teams, responsibilities include:
- Food Preparation and Quality Assurance: Assist in the preparation of menu items ensuring high quality and guest satisfaction, including washing, peeling, and preparing ingredients as well as producing quality mis-en place efficiently.
- Kitchen Maintenance and Cleanliness: Maintain a clean kitchen area by keeping food preparation areas clean, washing dishes, pots, utensils, crockery, and ensuring kitchen equipment and appliances are cleaned and checked as per daily checklists.
- Compliance with Safety and Health Regulations: Adhere to all work health and safety policies and procedures, ensuring hygiene, cleanliness, and general safety of all staff in food preparation areas, while complying with food handling and OHS regulations.
- Support and Team Collaboration: Provide support to Chefs and Cooks with food preparation and kitchen tasks, manage time effectively even under pressure, and demonstrate the ability to work autonomously as well as part of a team.
Requirements
About You- Minimum 1 year experience working in a similar kitchen/hospitality role
- Provide First Aid & CPR (advantageous)
- Strong personal presentation skills
- Be highly self-motivated, with great energy and the ability to multi-task
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Reliable, self-motivated and proactive
- A cross-cultural awareness and sensitivity to the welfare of others
- Have the necessary working entitlements to work in Australia
- Must not be affected by sea sickness
A pre-employment medical and National Police Check may be required as part of this recruitment process.
