Merchandise Operations Manager, MCG
The Opportunity:
Delaware North Australia is looking for an experienced and dynamic Merchandise Operations Manager to lead and deliver an exceptional, fan-focused merchandising experience at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). This role oversees the MCG Shop, our flagship store operating 7 days a week, along with additional outlets that come alive on game days, event days, and special occasions.
As a key leader, you will manage all operational aspects of our merchandise business, ensuring alignment with the strategic direction of both Delaware North and the MCG. This includes overseeing staffing, inventory, and outlet performance while fostering a customer-focused culture.You will inspire and manage a large, diverse team to deliver memorable guest experiences through innovative, high-quality products. With a strong commercial focus, you’ll ensure operations are both efficient and profitable, driving strategies that meet fan expectations and reflect market trends.

What you will do?:
- Lead, direct and continually improve operational activities to achieve financial plan, profit margins and business growth
- Provide leadership and coaching to grow talent and develop an engaged workforce within the venue
- Work closely with the Warehouse Manager and Shop Manager to drive effective operational outcomes
- Lead operations to ensure the business is compliant to all legislative regulations, standards and performance expectations
- Develop and measure operational metrics across the business in conjunction with the Financial Analyst
- Develop and maintain relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, continually building the Delaware North brand
- Non match day planning for maximisation and delivery of major events
More about you:
- Demonstrated leadership experience and the ability to manage large functioning teams
- Bachelor's degree in merchandise management, business management or hospitality is strongly preferred
- Ability to engage a workforce, to motivate and provide clear direction while creating a safe and respectful working environment
- Understanding of relevant legislative regulations, codes of practice and industry standards
- Strong business acumen with a sales and commercial growth mindset
- To have the ability to quickly identify opportunities and bring them to fruition
- A high attention to detail with excellent time management skills
