Senior Financial Accountant
Senior Financial Accountant | Education Sector | North Side of the Bridge
I am currently partnering with a long-standing client in the education sector who's on the lookout for a hands-on Senior Financial Accountant to step into a broad and rewarding role. This is a full-time, permanent position based in the North of Sydney.
What You'll Be Doing:
Managing day-to-day accounting tasks - think budgets, reporting, reconciliations, capital expenditure, and financial compliance.Supporting monthly and annual financial reporting cycles, including cash flow and forecasting.
Getting hands-on with audits and ensuring all financial records are up to scratch.
Taking the lead on end-to-end payroll - this includes awards, tax, super, and compliance. Ideally, you'll have experience managing payroll in an education or not-for-profit environment.Working with department heads to track budgets, manage variances, and support decision-making.
Helping improve internal systems, reporting, and processes where needed.
What we are looking For:
CA or CPA qualified with a solid accounting background.Someone with experience in a full-function finance role - ideally in education, not-for-profit, or other service-based industries.
Strong working knowledge of payroll legislation and the ability to run full-cycle payroll with confidence.
Great communicator - you'll be dealing with a mix of internal stakeholders including department heads and board committees.
Strong Excel and systems skills.
Someone who's proactive, solutions-focused, and enjoys working as part of a small, tight-knit team.
Nice to Have:
Experience working in an independent school or similar setting.Familiarity with reporting for government funding, compliance, or capital projects.
Exposure to audit processes and financial governance in regulated environments.
