About the role:
The role of an Industrial Designer at Popart Australia is multi-faceted, requiring a blend of creativity, technical skill, and project management expertise. Starting with design briefs, the Industrial Designer collaborates closely with clients to understand their vision, brand, and retail goals, capturing essential details to shape the creative direction of each project.
Once the brief is fully understood, the Industrial Designer develops innovative concepts that align with the client’s objectives and resonate with their target audience. This stage involves conceptualizing display units, fixtures, and other retail elements, considering not only aesthetics but also functionality, brand identity, and customer interaction. The designer then translates these concepts into full job specifications, meticulously detailing the materials, dimensions, manufacturing processes, and structural requirements needed to bring the design to life.
Throughout the project, the Industrial Designer oversees each phase, coordinating with other team member, including graphic designers, project managers, and production specialist, to ensure that the design aligns with both the initial vision and the technical feasibility of production. This includes managing revisions, troubleshooting design challenges, and maintaining clear communication with clients to provide updates and receive feedback. From the first sketch to the final production phase, the Industrial Designer is instrumental in creating solutions that are not only visually impactful but also cost-effective, durable, and aligned with the brand’s in-store presence goals.
This role requires strong attention to detail, an understanding of manufacturing processes, and a commitment to quality, ensuring that the final product not only meets client expectations but also enhances the retail experience.
