Hi, we’re Eva! And we’re here to fill your home with thoughtful furniture and homewares. With our laser focus on design and customer-centricity, we're accelerating towards becoming Australia’s leading furniture company and helping everyone be more ‘Thoughtful Everyday’.

We know you’ll probably check out our Instagram to gauge who we are (it's ok, I would too).

What’s the gist?

You are a problem solver. You love creating, resolving and refining.

As a Senior Industrial Designer, you’ll work closely with the Head of Design, Product Lead & Co-Founders to develop our unique market-leading furniture products. You’ll constantly challenge the boundaries of all things design and engineering and play a huge impact in helping create the future of no-tool premium assembly products in Australia.

This fulfills our promise of delivering quality, flat pack furniture that delight our customers.

Working closely with our suppliers, you take a design concept from prototype to mass production with the user in mind. The challenge: ensure every product is 100% ready for mass production, and meeting customers needs, while looking for ways to continuously improve our products post-release.

This is a tightly held role so if you live and breathe product design and development, prefer being part of a small team with significant autonomy, and enjoy a creative environment, this could be the once-in-a-lifetime role for you.

A day in the life looks like this:

Concept Design
  • Provide technical support to the Design Team during early concept development
Product Development
  • Own all aspects from prototyping to golden sample.
  • Lead the production of the relevant documentation required by the manufacturer to produce golden sample and first-batch mass-manufacture, which may include Renders, SOP’s, technical drawings and QC documentation.
  • Source components, materials, finishes, hardware and new construction methods for all products in development.
  • Drive and implement continuous improvements from golden sample, to 1st batch and all ongoing mass manufacturing) through utilising customer and user feedback, and working directly with suppliers to help them understand Eva’s high quality standards.
  • Work closely with stakeholders so the relevant departments are consulted where necessary during the Product Development process.
  • Ensure the project meets timeline, design and budget.
  • Work closely with Product Management, Marketing, Supply Chain and Customer Support to release new products to market.
  • Ensure product adheres to Eva's design system and DNA

Requirements

Requirements
  • Minimum 5-year full time experience as a senior industrial designer, sourcing, manufacturing or production in furniture or homewares with experience liaising with overseas suppliers on a day-to-day basis
  • Extensive knowledge of furniture construction and management.
  • An active problem solver and resourceful.
  • High attention to detail
  • Extremely organised and data-driven
  • Proven ability to identify & document product requirements via research and product reviews.
  • Mastery of the 3D modelling & rendering (experience with Fusion 360 and Blender preferred)
  • Comfortable with occasional overseas travel to our suppliers (every 3-6 months depending on product roadmaps)

Benefits

Benefits
  • A chance to grow with a multi-award winning and expanding start up.
  • The opportunity to bring to life market-leading Australian designs and products
  • Support for any course, conference or training that will help us mutually grow, ears and budget for any wild (but justifiable) ideas.
  • An autonomous work environment where there is never a regular ‘days work’.
  • All the coffee/ tea/ beers/ kombucha you need.
  • Free mattress and friend/family discounts.
  • Monthly team events (prev. events have included the Australian open, cooking classes & escape rooms).
  • A diverse culture and a bunch of lovely people.

Please include your cover letter, resume and portfolio to be considered.

We are reviewing and progressing applications on a rolling basis. If you’re excited for the role, and believe you’re a great fit for Eva, please apply as early as you can :)

Cosy regards,

Ken from Eva
