Graduate Mechanical Engineering
About Us:
Kite Magnetics is an advanced materials company based in Notting Hill, Victoria. Founded in 2022, we are commercialising Aeroperm®, a nanocrystalline magnetic material developed at Monash University that enables electric motors and generators to be significantly more efficient, compact and lightweight. Our mission is to reduce global emissions and energy waste by improving the performance of electric machines in transport, renewable energy and industrial applications. In 2025, we are building out a new pilot scale production facility in Melbourne to scale up our manufacturing capability and support our growing customer base.
As part of our engineering team, you will work alongside experienced mechatronics, materials and automation engineers on real world projects that push the boundaries of sustainable manufacturing and advanced electric motor technology. We are a collaborative and hands on team that values curiosity, transparency and impact, and we are proud to be building high tech jobs and capability here in Australia.
Position Overview:
As a Graduate Mechanical Engineer at Kite Magnetics, you will contribute to the design, development and testing of mechanical systems that enable the next generation of high-efficiency electric motors and manufacturing equipment. Working closely with experienced engineers across disciplines, you will assist in designing components, assembling prototypes, validating mechanical systems and supporting pilot-scale production of our nanocrystalline magnetic mateiral. This role is ideal for a graduate who has applied their skills through real-world projects and is eager to work in a fast-moving hardware environment. You will have the opportunity to contribute meaningfully from day one, gain exposure to cutting-edge technologies, and develop your skills in design, prototyping, testing and problem solving in a high-impact commercial context.
While the core focus of this role is mechanical design and hands-on prototyping, candidates with exposure to electric motor simulation or performance modelling are encouraged to apply. This additional capability is not required but may allow for involvement in cross-functional motor optimisation projects.
