The Key Account Manager will be responsible for increasing sales to Government (Local, Federal and State) and Fleet Management Organisatrions in Australia and New Zealand. You will also be responsible for establishing new and maintaining existing relationships to drive repeat sales with these clients, as well as managing the full end-to-end customer journey.
You will closely collaborate with other Key Account Managers and New Business Development Managers as well as across other portfolios to identify new opportunities within our Charging or Energy and HQ business sales and delivery leadership to drive repeat business and to chart a path for Tesla to become the preferred EV OEM.

In addition you will work with Government Relations and Legal teams to ensure Tesla remains compliant and performs according to contractual obligations.

  • Work closely with your counterpart Key Account Managers to enable multiparty relationships.
  • Participate in new account onboarding steps with new business team.
  • Work closely with our government relationships – local, state, national/Federal and ensure high level of customer engagement.
  • Be able to navigate complex Government topics relating to contract performance, privacy and compliance.
  • Where opportunity presents you will ask existing customers for referrals and reach out proactively to other large fleets within your designated portfolio that have not yet been referred to Tesla.
  • Drive repeat business on renewal cycles working with leasing companies on end of lease reports to identify new targets to expand current accounts.
  • Unlock company car policies and become the preferred EV OEM.
  • Host test drive events and attend industry conferences and the likes to represent Tesla and seek out new business opportunities.
  • Leverage existing leasing company relationships to grow sales within this segment.
  • Establish and manage all contractual agreements with these customers; where applicable and respond to pricing requests and complete RFP’s in a timely manner as required.
  • Establish an excellent operating framework, including management of contractual agreements, digital tools adoption, ownership management, and escalation handling with these customers.
  • Ensure you have a constant appreciation and understanding of their needs and requirements; specifically, any shortfalls in our offering.
  • Meet sales objectives by driving new orders across client types, driving down delivery dwell, and enabling strong performance with clients to ensure timely payments for existing products and services.
  • Actively partner with the Regional Enterprise Sales Manager to develop a cohesive strategy for the growth of enterprise vehicle sales within Australia and New Zealand.
  • Support the Quarterly ordering and forecasting process and participate in demand planning meetings with Sales and Delivery Ops.
  • Collaborate with Order Operations to ensure we have the most efficient processes.
  • Manage the overall business plan by working with other departments. Facilitate partner meetings regularly and effectively.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive product knowledge in respect of all vehicles, processes, and business finance solutions. Conduct competitor analysis on a regular basis.
  • Actively collaborate with Tesla teams (field sales, delivery and account managers) to provide coaching and training on Business-to-Business sales and have a regular presence in the store environment.
  • Use Tesla’s Customer Relation Management system and tools to log appointments, calls, test drives, contacts and meeting notes.
  • Ensure customers are fulfilling their contractual obligations (e.g. payment terms).
  • Continuous improvement of processes and procedures to reduce operational friction.
  • Perform ad-hoc duties as and when required.
  • Ensure all customers are working within the framework of our Tesla for Business platform.
  • The role will be national and Trans Tasman so you will be expected to travel for periods of time to fulfil the duties of this role.
  • The ideal candidate must be capable of building a 360-degree view of a given situation by addressing Service, Sales, Legal, Operational, and Financial factors in order to provide balanced solutions for both the customer and Tesla.
  • Strong analytical skills, combined with project and contract management skills, are essential, as well as the ability to work well both in a team and independently.
  • The successful candidate will be required to manage multiple tasks simultaneously whilst maintaining excellent customer service levels, often in difficult circumstances.
  • Valid driver’s license with minimum two years’ driving experience
