Senior Accountant

Overview:

The candidate must have experience managing complex statutory audits and/or financial reporting assignments, for large and medium-sized companies. As the financial reporting lead for our Blackhawk Network APAC entities, the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant will be expected to collaborate with our auditors, finance teams and other internal teams to manage the audit process effectively.

Responsibilities:

The role of the Senior Financial Reporting Accountant is to manage the end-to-end process for the financial statement audits for Blackhawk Network entities based in Asia Pacific. This encompasses entities in the following countries: Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Korea, Indonesia and Japan.

Reporting to the Financial Controller, and working closely with the local Finance team, you will be tasked with:

• Planning the audits and financial reporting assignments for the Blackhawk APAC entities.
• Providing financial information to the external accountants and external auditors to enable the preparation and audit of the financial statements.
• Working with Finance, the business and other functions, where necessary, to obtain relevant information.
• Working with the local and US tax teams in relation to direct and indirect tax queries which arise as part of the audit process.
• Reviewing financial statements prepared by the external accountants and providing feedback.
• Managing the completion procedures as part of the financial statement sign-off process.
• Liaising with external service providers to ensure all audit planning, fieldwork, financial statement preparation and audit finalisation processes are completed thoroughly and on a timely basis.
• Working with the Finance team to ensure audit adjustments are corrected, where necessary.
• Communicating the status of the statutory audits to the finance team.

Qualifications:

• CA / CPA qualification required.
• Minimum 6+ years of related accounting experience managing statutory audits and/or financial reporting assignments for mid-to-large sized businesses.
• Experience in managing the end-to-end process for statutory audits and/or financial reporting assignments from planning to completion.
• Strong understanding of IFRS reporting requirements and internal controls. Working knowledge of US GAAP preferred but not essential.
• Ability to work independently and resourcefully with minimal supervision and to take on new tasks with varying levels of difficulty and see them through to completion.
• Highly effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate with the relevant stakeholders.
• Possesses a high degree of initiative, self-motivation, and resourcefulness in order to meet schedules and deadlines.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize appropriately.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office with advanced Excel skills.
• Experience working in a high transaction volume environment.
• Demonstrated track record of developing and improving processes in a growing fast-paced environment.
