Accountant
Our valued client, Personalised Support Services, is seeking a precise and results-driven Accountant. They are a respected NDIS provider in Dandenong, Victoria, devoted to offering high-quality support for people with disabilities. With expertise in core supports, support coordination, supported accommodation, and group programs, the organisation works closely with participants and their families to ensure they access the care and services they need and deserve.
Position Overview
The Accountant in Aged Care Division is responsible for the accurate and timely management of financial operations within the Aged Care Division. This role supports effective financial processes while ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and standards.Key duties include managing payroll, claims, reimbursements, invoicing, and assisting the Head of Accounts with reporting and analysis. The role demands high accuracy, integrity, and collaboration with internal teams and external stakeholders.
The annual salary for this position is $73,150 to $75,000 plus superannuation.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Operations- Prepared quarterly GST returns for the company.
- Assist in preparing year-end tax returns for the business.
- Develop, maintain, and improve accounting systems, procedures, and internal controls.
- Process and document financial transactions, ensuring compliance, security, and data integrity.
- Prepare and lodge financial reports, including BAS, FBT, and other regulatory submissions.
- Prepare and analyse monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (profit and loss, Balance Sheet, and Cash Flow statements).
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, benchmarking, and variance analysis.
- Monitor operational costs, cash flow, and financial risks.
- Provide cost-control insights and support financial planning initiatives.
- Liaise with ATO, ASIC, and other government entities as needed.
- Conduct month-end processes, including journal entries, general ledger, bank reconciliations, and intercompany transactions.
- Support audit processes and financial compliance reporting.
- Assist in doing year-end closing procedures.
- Work closely with the Head of Accounts and support cross-functional teams.
- Provide guidance, training, and support to junior finance team members.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement, especially within a dynamic and evolving aged care environment.
- Examining the proficiency of our accounting software used to organise data and replacing it with updated software if required.
- Prepare accurate financial and management reports for internal use and board presentations.
- Conduct trend analysis and present financial insights to aid strategic decisions.
- Ensure all financial reports reflect current business conditions and align with compliance frameworks.
Skills and Attributes
Technical Skills- Minimum of one to two (1-2) years relevant Australian accounting experience (aged care or disability services preferred).
- Proficient in Xero, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel, Outlook, Word).
- Strong background in payroll, AP/AR, and financial reconciliations.
- Excellent knowledge of accounting principles, standards, and relevant legislation.
- Strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
- Professional, ethical, and team-oriented mindset.
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and confidentiality.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).
- Should have a valid Australian driver’s licence.
- Current police check or willingness to obtain.
- Have an understanding of aged care and/or NDIS pricing and compliance frameworks (highly regarded).
