MA Deacon Engineers, a part of the McDowall Affleck business, has been a successful Engineering Consultancy business since 2009, which provide outstanding design solutions and project management for Mechanical, Structural and Civil engineering. The business has been expanding operations into the infrastructure sector:

• Water
• Power/Renewable energy
• Infrastructure
• Transport

As a result of achieving our strategic objectives to continue to grow, we are now seeking a full time mechanical engineer to further complement our Mechanical team.

The ideal candidate will have a relevant Australian University degree or be recognised by Engineers Australia along with at least 3 years of experience in the same role, organisation skills, and good communication skills.

Position profile:

• Apply fracture mechanics for design and assessment of mechanical equipment in accordance with recognised standards
• Plans and completes design of complex FEA and Fatigue
• Analysis of mechanical and structural equipment using tools such as Ansys, fe-safeTM and Verity to relevant design, fatigue and fracture mechanics standards
• Preparation of analysis proposal for clients
• Strain gauge data acquisition for input into FEA to determine lead profiles and fatigue life
• Structural assessment, inspection and certification of plant and equipment to relevant design standards
• Liaise with clients in the development of solutions and where necessary conducts site visits
• Identify improvements in analysis techniques and new business opportunities

Your profile:

• Be a competent Fracture Mechanics and FEA Analyst with either mechanical qualifications
• Be experience with relevant design, fatigue and fracture mechanics standards;
• Have a passion for experience in engineering;
• Be team focused with excellent communication skills
