Role Summary

We have an opportunity for Health & Usage Monitoring System (HUMS) Engineer to join our team in Perth, WA. Reporting to the Manager, HUMS Support, the successful candidate will be the subject matter expert in vibrational data and analysis, who will support the operational business units on all matters relating to the Health and Usage Monitoring system in use across the fleet.

Joining a team of specialists supporting operations across the globe, HUMS Engineer will provide technical support to the operation through HUMS data analysis, trouble shooting, fault finding, maintenance of Ground Stations and HUMS related software.

Additionally, the successful candidate will also maintain standardization, embrace new technologies, and provide HUMS support as required to the global fleet.

Key Responsibilities:

The HUMS Engineer will demonstrate the following core competencies to execute the job responsibilities:

Operational Support:

  • Provide HUMS technical support for the business across the global fleet liaising with the OEMs on HUMS as a Subject Matter Expert.
  • Liaising with Engineering staff to provide technical recommendations in relation to HUMS alerts in conjunction with OEM and system support providers.
  • Maintain, set up and support HUMS Ground Stations and associated equipment.
  • Ensure maximum availability of aircraft and minimize downtime and unserviceability’s through proactively resolving HUMS issues.
  • Maintenance, Setup and Support of FDR replay equipment.
  • Assistance in meeting company and HUMS regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Assistance in evaluation of airworthiness directive, service bulletins or service letters related to HUMS, as required.
  • Periodic data management and integrity reviews.
  • Carrying out HUMS related training on behalf of the company, as and when required
  • Collaborate with the Maintenance Support Centre, Planning and Reliability Teams to increase operational availability of CHC’s fleet types.
  • Assist on lease returns or acceptances working with the aircraft owners on HUMS related issues.
  • Manage and monitor service level KPIs to ensure that HUMS support requests from the business are respond to in a timely manner.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned by the HUMS Manager.

Qualifications, Skills & Attributes:

  • Previous experience in dynamic systems or vibration analysis in aviation or other related industries. Or candidates with an engineering related degree or equivalent.
  • Previous experience of dynamic component vibration analysis and trend monitoring.
  • A sound knowledge of, and take an interest in, data technology.
  • Applicants should have an analytical mind, possess good co-operative capability and be able to perform independently.
  • An understanding of aircraft maintenance (or similar mechanical systems) and operational support.
  • Demonstrable IT skills in the use and configuration of hardware and software.
  • Excellent communication skills, awareness of different cultural norms, able to communicate technical data to a wide range of audiences in various geographical locations.
  • Experience or familiarity with aircraft maintenance and support.
  • Knowledge of vibration analysis techniques and associated software systems.
  • Ability to manage and analyze vibration trends.
  • Ability to maintain and develop relationships with stakeholders, including Maintenance Organisations, Airworthiness teams and the Maintenance Support Centre.
  • Familiarity with IT systems
