Silverstone is a dynamic and diverse company providing recruitment and people services, power generation, renewables, ground water and dewatering management, and onsite service repairs and maintenance. We are currently seeking an Environmental consultant for a full-time position to join our growing team.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Provide expert analysis and strategic advice on the impact of environmental regulatory developments and compliance obligations on the business and project activities.
- Develop and implement effective environmental approvals strategies to support the successful delivery of projects.
- Facilitate the scoping and coordination of environmental baseline and technical studies to inform environmental risk and impact assessments.
- Undertake comprehensive assessments of environmental risk factors associated with project operations—including physical disturbances, air and GHG emissions, noise, lighting, chemical discharges, produced water, and invasive marine species—to ensure risks are reduced to ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable).
- Lead engagements with environmental regulatory authorities to progress project-related environmental assessments and obtain necessary approvals.
- Coordinate the integration of environmental input across internal teams such as Corporate Affairs, First Nations, and Climate departments to ensure a cohesive approach to environmental approvals.
- Provide technical environmental expertise during stakeholder engagement, particularly regarding the risks and impacts of project activities.
- Coordinate both field and desktop-based environmental monitoring, ensuring accurate data analysis and compliance reporting.
- Manage and contribute to environmental inputs in key project deliverables, ensuring alignment with regulatory and internal expectations.
- Oversee the day-to-day work of a team of environmental advisers assigned to support the project.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives by integrating lessons learned and enhancing environmental processes across current and future projects.
Minimum Requirement:
- A tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Management, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in environmental consulting, environmental approvals, or regulatory compliance—preferably within the energy, resources, or infrastructure sectors.
- Proven experience conducting environmental risk and impact assessments, including baseline studies and field monitoring programs.
- Strong working knowledge of Australian environmental legislation, regulatory frameworks, and approval processes.
- Experience engaging with regulatory authorities and other stakeholders, including Indigenous and community groups.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply environmental data, standards, and policies to project planning and execution.
- Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within set timeframes.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
