About Our Client:
Our client is a leading ASX-listed professional services firm, renowned for its industry expertise and market leadership. Due to growth, they are seeking an experienced Senior Financial Accountant to join their Group Reporting Team based in the CBD, Sydney.This is a permanent, full-time position offering the opportunity to work for a high-profile company within a collaborative and dynamic finance team. You will report directly to a Tenured Senior Group Finance Manager with over 8 years of experience at the firm, ensuring strong mentorship and professional growth.
The Role:
As a Senior Financial Accountant, you will be integral to the preparation and oversight of group financial reporting, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulations. You will manage month-end processes, provide insights into financial performance, and help drive improvements in the company's financial reporting practices.
Your core responsibilities will include:
- Group Financial Reporting: Full financial management and reporting, including the preparation and review of year-end and half-year financial statements, ensuring compliance with Australian Accounting Standards and IFRS.
- Monthly Reporting: Preparation and review of monthly financial reports for management, providing insightful analysis of financial performance.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in month-end processes and procedures, enhancing efficiency to meet reporting obligations.
- Variance Analysis: Review and analyse financial results monthly, identifying trends and areas for improvement or further investigation.
- Employee Rights Plans: Manage the accounting and administration of employee rights plans, including ensuring compliance with associated reporting obligations.
- External Audit Management: Assist with the management of external audit, liaising with auditors and providing necessary documentation and support.
- Compliance & Policies: Ensure compliance across the business with accounting policies, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and internal controls.
- Technical Accounting Papers: Prepare technical accounting papers outlining business impact and required accounting treatments for complex transactions or new accounting standards.
- Internal Controls: Maintain strong internal controls to minimise misstatement risk, and contribute to the enhancement of reporting processes to achieve best practice.
Key Requirements:
- Qualifications: Tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA qualification is essential).
- Experience: Proven experience in financial accounting and group reporting, ideally within an ASX-listed or large corporate environment.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards (AASB), IFRS, and statutory reporting requirements.
- Systems Proficiency: Experience with large ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Excel skills.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional attention to detail, particularly in month-end close and financial reporting processes.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities to assess financial performance and identify risks and opportunities.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels.
- Compliance & Risk Focus: Proactive approach to ensuring compliance with accounting policies and minimizing financial reporting risks.
