About the role
This is a great opportunity for you to join a well-known, Australian primary producer and utilise your strong metal fabrication and welding background for a pork production business leader.
As a member of the maintenance team, you will be responsible for fabricating structural steel and other metal stock to make metal products including installation, repairs and maintaining metal structures, fixtures, parts, and pipes for water distribution and wastewater disposal on the facility (including plant and amenities) and surrounding properties/farms.
Main duties will include:- Reading drawings, plans and schematics to plan out works and fabrication processes;
- Select, clean and prepare metal stock, parts and equipment;
- Fabricate, cut, shape, bend, join and assemble metal sections by welding or brazing techniques, bolting and riveting;
- Use hand tools and equipment to shape and bend metal sections, parts and pipes using hand or machine tools, heating, hammering and align joints using measuring instruments;
- Exam and inspect welds for width of bead, penetration, precision and integrity;
- Smooth welds by filing, chiselling and grinding and finish works, structure and parts by cleaning, polishing, filing ensuring they are safe for use and dependable;
- Ensure completion of work orders with all relevant information needed incl. any reasons for failing to meet the required work order;
- Ensure quick response from the Team for on-site callouts based on priority of issue;
- Ensure that maintenance stocks are reported to Maintenance Manager (or administrator) following use, i.e. supplies, spare parts and equipment;
- Take responsibly for small projects allocated to you and see through to completion;
- High level of familiarity with fabrication tools, equipment and perform tasks with limited supervision;
- Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with Company Policies and Standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safe work practices and environmental compliance;
- Ensure all incidents or near misses are reported to the Maintenance Manager and assist with corrective actions;
- Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in a safe and working order and any repairs reported immediately;
- Carry out any other reasonable and lawful directions that may be given from time to time by the company;
- Demonstrate and exercise a commitment to promote, develop and improve the health, safety, environment and welfare of our people and animals.
About you
Skills and experience
Applicants must have the following qualifications and/or recent employment experience:
- AQF Certificate III (or higher/equivalent) qualification in Engineering – Fabrication Trade or similar and two (2) years recent relevant experience; OR
- A minimum five (5) years' engineering – fabrication trade work experience.
This position requires working to a roster and work on weekends is required.
Base salary range: $76,541 - $80,000 + Superannuation.

- Good planners and implementers;
- Passionate about pig production; and
- Familiar with MS Excel.
