On behalf of our client The Leadlight Perth, we are advertising for the Position of Chef.

A Chef supports the Executive Chef in managing kitchen operations, overseeing daily food preparation, and maintaining high standards of food quality, presentation, and hygiene. This role assists with inventory and menu planning, and ensures efficient, collaborative service during all shifts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise and assist with daily food preparation across all sections.
  • Prepare, cook, and plate dishes consistently to recipe and presentation standards.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene, food safety, and workplace health and safety (HACCP compliance).
  • Manage section workflows to ensure efficient service delivery during peak periods.
  • Monitor and maintain correct use of kitchen equipment and cooking temperatures.
  • Oversee the pass and coordinate efficient dish expediting to ensure timely and accurate service.
  • Train, mentor, and supervise junior chefs, kitchen porters, and dishwashers.
  • Assist with menu planning, recipe development, and catering to special dietary requirements.
  • Oversee food storage, labelling, and stock rotation according to FIFO principles.
  • Contribute to inventory management, ordering, and minimising food wastage.
  • Collaborate with the Head Chef and front-of-house teams to ensure smooth service operations.

Skills and Experience Required:

Essential:
  • Proven experience in a Chef in a high-paced hospitality environment.
  • Strong knowledge of food safety, kitchen hygiene, and HACCP practices.
  • Proficiency across multiple kitchen sections.
  • Skilled in portioning, plating, and maintaining consistent food quality.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to train, and motivate a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Completion of "Do Food Safety Food" Handling Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Desirable:
  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent qualification.
  • Food Safety Supervisor Certificate.
  • Experience with menu planning and development.
  • Exposure to catering for special dietary needs or specific cuisine types.
  • First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
Annual Salary: AUD $ 76515
