As a Corporate Governance & Taxation Specialist, you will play a vital role within our finance team, responsible for corporate governance and taxation compliance for the TMGM Group. You will manage the group's Australian corporate governance obligations and facilitate tax filings.

This position offers an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented company secretary or taxation specialist with at least 3 years of experience to expand their skills and help drive the growth of the group.

Responsibilities

Corporate Governance:

  • Oversee the group's corporate governance and compliance obligations, including maintaining statutory records and registers, preparing board minutes, resolutions, and other governance-related documents for Australian and overseas group entities. Keep internal documentations up to date with the structural changes.
  • Manage Australian companies within the group, ensuring timely and accurate filings with ASIC.
  • Facilitate the signing and execution of corporate documents, adhering to internal policies and legal requirements.
  • Advising the Board and Committees on good corporate governance practices.
  • Support the group's due diligence process in mergers and acquisitions in Australia and overseas.
  • Liaise with regulatory bodies including ASIC, manage inquiries and ensure resolution of compliance matters.

Taxation Compliance:

  • Review documents prepared for the lodgement of activity statements, payroll tax, fringe benefits tax and income tax returns for the group's Australian entities, ensuring the accuracy of information provided to tax agents and compliance with relevant tax laws.
  • Monitor the timely filing of returns and settlement of taxes.
  • Compile information to support the group's decision making on local and international taxation matters.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Research on regulatory requirements and analyse the impact on the group.
  • Effectively communicate across the organization to ensure tasks are prioritized and resolved.
  • Work closely with external parties to ensure regulatory compliance.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Commerce, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of corporate governance and/or taxation-related experience with a Big 4 / mid-tier professional services firm in Australia is preferred; equivalent experience with relevant regulatory bodies would also be considered.
  • A well-rounded understanding of Australian corporate governance and tax obligations; experience with operations in foreign jurisdictions would be a plus.
  • Proven experience with the ASIC, ATO and State Revenue Office lodgement portals.
  • CPA or CA qualified, registration as a tax agent, or membership with the Governance Institute of Australia, will be highly regarded.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite required; familiarity with CAS 360, DocuSign and Xero is desired.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Mandarin fluency is appreciated.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to multi-task.
  • Industry knowledge in AFSL, trading platforms, financial services, or fund management is a plus.
  • Proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
