About Bollywood Bar: Nestled in the heart of Carina, QLD, Bollywood Bar is a lively tribute to the flamboyant world of Hindi cinema. Our restaurant embodies the spirit of Bollywood, from the vibrant décor featuring iconic film posters to the unique auto-rickshaw styled seating.

Our diverse menu echoes the colorful narrative of Bollywood, offering everything from Mumbai street food favorites like Vada Pav and Dahi Puri to beloved classics such as Chicken Tikka Masala and Butter Chicken, along with a fusion twist of Indo-Chinese dishes like Hakka Noodles and Manchurian.

Position: Chef

Key Responsibilities:
  • Creatively design menus that reflect our eclectic mix of traditional and fusion cuisines, while managing food and labor costs effectively.
  • Ensure the highest quality of dishes through meticulous oversight at all preparation and presentation stages.
  • Collaborate with management and dietary specialists to discuss culinary processes, maintaining open lines of communication with both kitchen and wait staff.
  • Demonstrate culinary techniques and guide kitchen staff on various cooking procedures, ensuring adherence to our unique flavour profiles.
  • Lead the preparation and cooking of our diverse menu items, infusing each dish with the authenticity and flair that our patrons love.
  • Uphold and champion strict hygiene and safety regulations within the kitchen environment.
  • Participate in the selection and training of new kitchen staff, fostering a supportive and skilled kitchen team.
  • Managing food preservation, including freezing and other techniques, to ensure quality and extend the usability of ingredients, aligning with our commitment to sustainability and waste reduction.
  • Innovate and introduce new culinary offerings that resonate with our Bollywood theme and delight our customers.
Work Hours: This is a full-time role, requiring approximately 38 hours per week.

Salary: A competitive salary range of $70,000-$80,000 plus superannuation annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications.

Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years experience as a Chef.
  • AQF Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma, or Diploma in Culinary Arts or a relevant field.
Personal Attributes:
  • Passionate about food and creativity, with a flair for marrying traditional and modern culinary arts.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, capable of inspiring and managing a diverse team.
  • A keen eye for detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality dining experiences.
  • Adaptable and proactive in a dynamic, fast-paced kitchen environment.
