WHAT IS THE UNIQUE PURPOSE OF THE ROLE?

Be a contributing member in the areas of Dams matters within the Corporation by providing technical support to the Dams Engineering team, delivering fit for purpose technical investigation, designs, audits and technical advisory services related to all aspects of water and wastewater infrastructure and standards.

WHAT DOES THE ROLE DO?

  • Contribute to ‘Industry leading WHS performance across the entire corporation
  • Contribute to an increased awareness in the Safety in Design (SID) process through coordination of an effective SID consultation and delivery plan with resources from Asset Management, Program/Project Management, WHS, Operations, Design and Construction in order to achieve safe design outcomes.
  • Consult the business as the technical practitioner So Far As Is Reasonably Practicable (SFAIRP) about how to ensure that health and safety risks arising from design throughout asset life cycle is eliminated or minimised.
  • Provide the technical support on Safety in Design (SiD) matters for the Dams discipline team.
  • Ensure the SAW “Safety in Design” process is incorporated into Engineering design processes.

Key Accountabilities: Engineering Capability

Accountability Details:
  • Developing practitioner for dams discipline matters across the Corporation.
  • Progress in technical investigations, designs and audits of SA Water assets and projects to meet quality, time and budget objectives.
  • Provide technical support for investigations, concept and detailed designs for dams and dam related projects to ensure compliance and relevance of technical standards and guidelines.
  • Provide technical support in coordination and review of SA Waters Dam Safety Review program of works
  • Provide technical support in delivering SA Waters Opex, Capital and Major Capital works
  • Develop a working knowledge of ANCOLD Guidelines and provide technical support with activities related to SA Waters compliance with ANCOLD Guidelines
  • Develop a working knowledge of SA Waters technical standards and guidelines for Dams, Civil and Geo-Technical discipline components of SA Water infrastructure.
  • Developing skill set in technical writing that advocate best for business solutions that meet asset lifecycle plans.
  • Assist in site inspection of Dams and relevant asset assessment when required by Business Partners
  • Educate project managers, contractors and regional personnel on SA Water requirements and be open to constructive feedback from partners (others) to further develop technical experience and/or solutions.

Accountability Details:
  • Provide timely, accurate, appropriate and adequate information and documentation to customers, with a focus on minimising delays and providing cost effective solutions.
  • Seek and initiate value add solutions for the Dams discipline team to satisfy customers’ needs.
  • Carry out training/workshop presentations, as required.

Accountability Details:
  • Work effectively within the Dams discipline engineering team, with other technical disciplines and across multi-disciplinary teams from our technical partners.
  • Regular participation in all one on one and team meetings.
  • Support of the Dams discipline Knowledge Base.
  • Actively contribute into the Civil & Structural discipline Forums
  • Provide timely, accurate, appropriate and adequate information and documentation to minimise delays and provide cost effective solutions.
  • Consultation with key stakeholders to ensure engineering outcomes and outputs meet customer’s expectations.

Accountability Details:
  • Determine suitability of new and emerging technologies and recommend they are adopted by the Corporation where benefits are identified.
  • Keep up to date with industry best practice in all matters Civil & Structural for the technical discipline.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE THE ROLE REQUIRES

Criteria which will be used for recruitment and selection for this role:

Foundation Knowledge, Skills, Experience and Qualifications: Essential or Desirable
  • Tertiary Dams, Civil or Structural Engineering qualification > Essential
  • Beginner to intermediate knowledge of Dams engineering first principless, procedures and practices. > Essential
  • Affiliation and Recognition of discipline expertise by Engineers Australia > Desirable
  • Knowledge of Dams or structural engineering procedures and practices as applied to the water industry and large engineering organisations. > Desirable
  • Awareness in the provision of investigation, options, concept and detailed design of Dams engineering discipline installations associated with the water industry and auditing of designs prepared by others > Desirable
  • Appreciation of the execution of novel, complex and critical engineering investigations and designs in Dams engineering > Desirable
  • Understanding in the utilisation of technical and infrastructure standards > Desirable

  • Flexible hours and some after hours as required, some intra and interstate travel (mandatory)
  • You will be required to undergo initial and subsequent medical clearances and immunisations as relevant to your position, to ensure your safety in performing the inherent requirements of your role, including but not limited to: Covid-19, Hepatitis A/B, Q Fever and Flu (mandatory)
  • Depending on the role you will be required to undergo initial and/or subsequent clearance checks to ensure your ongoing suitability for the role. These may include a criminal police check, traffic check, Working with Children and/or Working with Vulnerable People (mandatory)

  • Expected salary: $113690 per year
