Customer Legal Services caters to a wide array of legal needs for customers of the Public Trustee. The Public Trustee acts in a representative capacity including in the capacity of Administrator for financial matters under the Guardianship and Administration Act 2000, Attorney under the Powers of Attorney Act 1998, litigation guardian for persons under a legal incapacity, personal representative of deceased estates, and trustee of a trust.
In this role you will manage the Legal Administrative Support staff within the group, providing direction, leadership, and co-ordination of the Legal Services Administrative Support group to meet the current and future legal secretarial and administrative support needs, to enable the business area to meet service demands and challenges.Key Responsibilities (More information on the role description)
- Manage the Legal Administrative Support Group and its daily operations to ensure the effective use of resources and that established client service standards are met.
- Take responsibility for the development of quality legal administration service delivery, facilitate teamwork, and be accountable for the group's Performance Planning and Development, workload distribution, and consistent processes and procedures.
- Regularly liaise with the Managing Lawyers to set agreed outcomes on the quality of services delivered and ensure that such services are regularly monitored and evaluated.
- In conjunction with the Practice and Knowledge Manager, and the Manager, Legal Administrative Support from the other Legal Services group:
- develop and maintain office systems to ensure the most effective secretarial practices and legal secretarial controls are in place, including filing and bring up systems;
- develop and maintain office systems/procedures which assist with file velocity and the monitoring/management of time sensitive correspondence;
- ensure the ongoing currency of procedure manuals for administrative staff; and
- develop staff capabilities, including providing training in systems and procedures.
