The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior IP Strategy & Protection Specialist to join the Boeing Intellectual Property team to support BDA’s E7 Wedgetail Program. The role is based in Brisbane, QLD or alternatively Williamtown, NSW.

The position requires close collaboration and frequent communication across the Boeing enterprise including leaders within our engineering and technology divisions and all Business Units. The successful candidate will work with the BIP Leadership, the Law Department, Engineering, and Business Unit Leaders to manage and BDA’s Intellectual Property (IP) assets and interests.

The Senior IP Strategy and Protection Specialist provides leadership and oversight of IP Management activities for BDA, and is accountable to the Boeing IP Country Lead for the successful conduct of IP Management outcomes within the E7 Wedgetail Program.

The Senior IP Strategy and Protection Specialist manages highly complex IP management activities, and maintains relationships with senior internal stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Providing core Intellectual Property management activities for Boeing’s E7 Wedgetail Program in compliance with customer-side and supply-side contractual requirements, as well as cross-border data management and protection
  • Supporting various IP contracted deliverables, such as IP schedules or related documentation
  • Central point of contact for IP rights inquiries and protection advice for the E7 Wedgetail Program
  • Understanding enterprise level IP policy and procedure and enabling subsidiary compliance, including supporting the development and/or revision of local IP policy and procedure
  • Developing and conducting general and Program specific IP Training to strengthen IP awareness
Education
  • Formal qualifications in Law or related discipline (Business Management, Accounting or similar) is essential
  • Formal qualifications in Engineering or Science, desirable but not essential

Previous Experience

Essential:

  • At least 8 years’ experience in legal, Intellectual Property (IP) management and/or contract management roles
  • Extensive knowledge of IP rights and the legislated requirements and processes for protection
  • Demonstrated stakeholder engagement and management skills
  • Outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills
  • Successful candidate must have a global mindset and be willing to participate in international level strategy and meetings

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the Australian Standard Defence Contracting Suite of Templates
  • Strong commercial acumen
  • Experience with IP Capture and invention disclosure harvesting

Eligibility

Applicants must be Australian Citizens with the ability to obtain an NV1 security clearance to meet defence requirements.
