Salary: $75,000 plus 11.5% superannuation

Position: Permanent, Full time

Our client, The Kulcha House Pty Ltd, a renowned provider of authentic Indian cuisine, is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join its team. This role is pivotal to ensuring the continued growth and success of the business by maintaining high-quality culinary standards, driving customer satisfaction, and introducing innovative dishes that reflect the traditional and modern fusion of Indian cuisine.

The Chef will play a critical role in elevating the restaurant’s reputation, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving profitability by delivering exceptional dining experiences to customers.

In this role your main responsibilities include:
  • Prepare, cook, and present authentic Indian dishes with consistency and creativity.
  • Develop new menu items, ensuring seasonal relevance and customer preferences are incorporated.
  • Maintain food preparation and storage in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Collaborate with the management team to control food costs and ensure profitability.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to maintain consistency and high-quality output.
  • Monitor portion sizes and manage ingredients efficiently to reduce wastage.
  • Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Oversee the preparation of special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian and gluten-free options.
  • Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and adapt new cooking techniques to elevate the menu.

The successful candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry, be career focused and have strong leadership qualities.

Other key skills and experience will include:
  • Relevant qualification at the level of a Diploma in Hospitality OR at least Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery AND at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
  • Proven experience as a Chef specializing in Indian cuisine.
  • In-depth knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and regional dishes.
  • Ability to perform well under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate the kitchen team.
  • Extensive food and wine knowledge.
  • Demonstrated experience in customer service management.
You must be a quick learner who is also reliable, creative, organized, hard-working and well-mannered.
