Our client, The Kulcha House Pty Ltd, a renowned provider of authentic Indian cuisine, is seeking a skilled and experienced Chef to join its team. This role is pivotal to ensuring the continued growth and success of the business by maintaining high-quality culinary standards, driving customer satisfaction, and introducing innovative dishes that reflect the traditional and modern fusion of Indian cuisine.
The Chef will play a critical role in elevating the restaurant’s reputation, ensuring operational efficiency, and driving profitability by delivering exceptional dining experiences to customers.
In this role your main responsibilities include:- Prepare, cook, and present authentic Indian dishes with consistency and creativity.
- Develop new menu items, ensuring seasonal relevance and customer preferences are incorporated.
- Maintain food preparation and storage in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with the management team to control food costs and ensure profitability.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to maintain consistency and high-quality output.
- Monitor portion sizes and manage ingredients efficiently to reduce wastage.
- Inspecting supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
- Oversee the preparation of special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian and gluten-free options.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and adapt new cooking techniques to elevate the menu.
The successful candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry, be career focused and have strong leadership qualities.
Other key skills and experience will include:- Relevant qualification at the level of a Diploma in Hospitality OR at least Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery AND at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience as a Chef specializing in Indian cuisine.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and regional dishes.
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate the kitchen team.
- Extensive food and wine knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service management.
