Mechanical Engineering Technician

• Designing and developing mechanical components for telecom equipment such as antennas, enclosures, and cooling systems.

• Creating prototypes for new devices and testing their mechanical integrity and performance.
• Developing effective thermal management systems to ensure that telecom equipment operates within safe temperature ranges, which is crucial for reliability.
• Designing heat sinks and ventilation systems for equipment like base stations and servers.
• Analysing the structural integrity of towers and other support structures to withstand environmental factors such as wind, earthquakes, and snow loads.
• Choosing appropriate materials that ensure durability and longevity while being cost-effective.
• Collaborating with manufacturing teams to ensure that telecom equipment is produced efficiently and meets quality standards.
• Improving manufacturing processes to reduce costs and enhance product performance.
• Conducting tests on mechanical components to verify that they meet design specifications and industry standards.
• Investigating failures in mechanical systems and suggesting improvements or redesigns.
• Working with electrical engineers, software engineers, and other professionals to integrate mechanical systems with electronic and software components.
• Assisting in project planning, including timelines and budgeting for mechanical aspects of telecom projects.
• Ensuring that designs comply with industry regulations and safety standards.
• Providing technical support during the installation and maintenance of telecom equipment.
• Diagnosing and resolving mechanical issues that arise in the field.

• At least Trade qualification or Postgraduate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering
• AQF associate degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma (ANZSCO Skill Level 2)
• Experience in transformer installation, repair, and maintenance
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, particularly in electrical and mechanical systems
• Proficient in interpreting technical documents, blueprints, and wiring diagrams
• Excellent communication and customer service skill
• Valid VIC driver’s license and ability to pass background checks
