Job Description

The IT Infrastructure Project Manager will manage and guide complex, high-priority IT infrastructure projects. This position demands an experienced professional with broad expertise in all aspects of IT infrastructure, along with a thorough understanding of the distinct challenges and needs of technology within law enforcement environments.

  • Project Management: Oversee the project to ensure it is managed and delivered to a high professional standard, in alignment with both internal and external policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Leadership and Negotiation: Provide leadership to both the team and senior management, negotiating solutions and resolving issues across various divisions, organisational boundaries, and with both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Team Development: Lead, motivate, and develop the Project Delivery team, utilising both day-to-day management and formal performance processes to support the achievement of business objectives.
  • Customer Satisfaction: Actively manage customer needs, expectations, and satisfaction, ensuring compliance with client requirements and quality assurance standards.
  • Delivery Framework: Ensure the project adopts and is endorsed with the appropriate delivery framework/methodology.
  • Product Delivery: Drive the delivery and implementation of project products, ensuring the creation of all necessary documentation for product delivery and acceptance throughout the project life cycle and post-delivery support, meeting project objectives and customer acceptance criteria.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee external vendors in accordance with signed contracts, including assisting in the RFT process, conducting analysis, tracking the project, managing relationships, monitoring deliverables, and providing reports.
  • Change Management: Manage all change management activities within the project, including coordinating training initiatives.
  • Additional Tasks: Undertake other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager.
The Successful Applicant
  • Project Management Expertise: At least 7 years of continuous experience as a Project Manager, with a proven track record of successfully delivering a portfolio of at least 3 large-scale projects for complex organisations, utilising contemporary project management methodologies.
  • Technical Oversight: Experience in managing IT infrastructure projects involving Hybrid Cloud Compute, Storage, Network, Security, Identity, OS refresh, Databases, and Unified Communications.
  • Vendor Management: Demonstrated experience in managing external vendors, including defining scope of work, overseeing architecture and design, and ensuring successful delivery.
  • Team Leadership: Extensive experience leading and motivating a diverse internal team (Architects, Engineers, Testers, Business Analysts), ensuring strong collaboration and high performance in demanding environments.
  • Adaptability and Agility: Ability to manage large volumes of requirements in a fast-paced environment, with flexibility to adjust to changing project needs and diverse challenges.
  • Certification: Certification in project management best practices (preferably Practitioner PRINCE2, PMP).
  • Reporting and Forecasting: Extensive experience managing project finances, schedules, and detailed status reporting, including SteerCo updates, using Enterprise Project Management tools.
  • Change Management: Strong background in ITIL change management and service transition, ensuring smooth adoption of new systems and processes. Experience in organisational change management to facilitate the adoption of new technologies and procedures across the organisation.
  • Compliance and Security: In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements and security standards relevant to law enforcement.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
