We are seeking a skilled and experienced Solutions Architect to join our Technology team. Working in an agile environment, the Solutions Architect is a member of the Technology team applying solution design skills, strong technical knowledge, best practice design and code quality disciplines, and excellent interpersonal skills in the development of software solutions.
In partnership with the technical leadership team, you will make a significant contribution to the setting of the technical direction of all aspects of our technology space.
About the Role
Key Responsibilities:
- Applying expertise of architectural patterns into solution design and broader technology patterns.
- Provide meaningful architectural documentation around solutions and patterns, utilising industry standard design tools, such as systems diagrams, and sequence diagrams.
- Work closely with the Engineering Managers to define standards for architectural design and documentation for developers to adhere to.
- Be client facing in partnership and integration meetings, and to provide solutions as part of the pre-sales process.
- Staying up to date with high level architectural trends of major platform vendors utilised by TEG, including AWS, MongoDB, Python, .NET.
- Staying up to date with high level architectural trends (e.g. cloud, microservices, AI).
- Advise and support other technology team members on architectural matters as and when needed.
- Be actively involved in the development process, including coding, peer reviewing, deployments, and bug-fixing post initial build.
- Assess success of solution work post-production.
- Research and make recommendations for implementation of the latest technologies where feasible.
- Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Work with the Development team to maintain existing client applications.
- Operate efficiently within a highly server-less environment with heavy use of Lambda/Kinesis/AWS.
- Ensure that applications are optimised for maximum security, reliability, speed, and scalability.
- Ensure that code changes are peer-reviewed to ensure best practice coding standards are followed.
- Work closely with the Architectural team on high level designs and patterns.
- Liaise with key stakeholders across the business.
- Assist the wider business in key events throughout the year in a technical capacity, such as major hotshows and ingress support.
- Other duties as reasonably required.
Requirements
About You- Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology.
- Proven experience in developing web-based solutions – ideally e-commerce.
- A minimum of 7 years software development experience, delivering across multiple technologies and platforms in a commercial environment.
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience in solutions architecture in the delivery of mobile, eCommerce, and web-based solutions.
- Extensive knowledge of solutions architecture, .NET, SOA and MSA, technical architecture designs using UML, standards, and advanced corporate information system concepts.
- Extensive experience with patterns, standards, and best practices dictating security and reliability considerations in architectural solutions design.
- Extensive knowledge of cloud architecture and design in the AWS cloud environment, with basic awareness of Azure and GCP.
- In depth knowledge of ASP.NET MVC, .NET Core, RESTful Web API, SQL Server, and MongoDB.
- Exposure to CI/CD practices and principles – Ansible, CloudFormation, Jenkins, Octopus, etc.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to present your ideas with confidence to peers and to management.
- Ability to effectively present technical solutions to non-technical audiences.
- Ability to be able to apply both best practice and innovation, in equal measure, to deliver across a complex operating environment.
