Chef de Partie (Full-Time)

$73,500 to $77,500 p.a, exclusive of superannuation

We’ve been successfully operating Avenue Road Café for over 10 years, located in the main shopping district of Mosman Village. We’re very well known in the community for our seasonal, fresh and diverse meals, and proud to consistently source ingredients from our local producers.

This success saw us branch out and open another venue, Bar Infinita, last year – a modern Italian restaurant and wine bar, located in Gordon NSW. Armed with a woodfired pizza oven and our head chef, Francesco Lervolino from Naples (who has worked at some of Sydney’s finest Italian restaurants including Ormeggio and Firedoor), we’ve already become one of the North Shore’s new neighbourhood favourites, also recognized by popular media channels such as GoodFood, TimeOut, Urban List and Vogue.

In light of the growth we have had, we extended our opening hours in the last month, due to popular demand. Bar Infinita is now open six nights a week, plus Saturday lunch from 12 to 2:30PM. We plan to increase our lunch offerings from Friday through to Sunday soon as well.

As a result, we’re currently on the hunt for a highly skilled and motivated Chef de Partie to join our team. It’s important to us to have a bigger robust team to meet our demands, with skilled staff who have a commitment to improve our processes and refine our menus to offer our customers mouth-watering culinary experiences as well as vibrant environments they will find themselves wanting to come back to.

The Chef de Partie full-time position is vital, working closely with our Head Chef and Sous Chef to create and execute exceptional dishes, ensuring consistency, creativity, and quality across all our offerings. As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for running your section of the kitchen, ensuring all dishes are prepared, cooked and plated to the highest standard, all whilst maintaining cleanliness and service standards.

The position requires highly skilled and experienced individuals who thrive in fast-paced, high-volume environments.

As a Chef de Partie, you will be responsible for the following duties, including but not limited to:

  • Ensuring the smooth running of the dedicated section
  • Maintenance of quality and service standards
  • Ordering food supplies for the dedicated section
  • Training kitchen staff in similar or lower positions
  • Prepare, cook, garnish and present foods in an adequate manner as per directions from head chef
  • Closely collaborate with other chefs to plan and develop recipes and menus, taking into account factors such as seasonal availability of ingredients and the likely number of customers
  • Check the quality of raw and cooked food products to ensure that standards are met
  • Safety, security and hygiene systems management
  • Inspect supplies, equipment, and work areas to ensure conformance to established standards
  • Monitor sanitation practices to ensure that employees follow standards and regulations
  • Promote and practice safe work habits

Required Skills & Experience:

  • A relevant diploma-level qualification or suitable work experience
  • At least 1 year of work experience as a Chef in a restaurant or café.
  • Strong cooking and food preparation knowledge, with a keen eye for detail and presentation.
  • Adequate understanding of OH&S regulations and food safety standards.
  • Ability to manage a section of the kitchen and work efficiently under pressure.
  • Experience in training and guiding kitchen staff is desirable.
  • Strong work ethic, with a positive and team-oriented attitude.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to working within a kitchen team.
