About the Role:
Our client is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Lead Spray Painter to oversee industrial painting operations within their state-of-the-art blasting and coating facility. This leadership role requires expertise in surface preparation and spray application, as well as a strong commitment to quality control, workplace safety, and mentoring junior staff.The successful candidate will be instrumental in delivering premium finishes on fabricated steel structures while maintaining efficiency in operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate all industrial spray painting and coating activities, ensuring quality and efficiency.
- Apply protective coatings to structural steel components following project specifications and Australian industry standards.
- Interpret and work from technical drawings and specifications to determine correct painting techniques.
- Lead, train, and mentor a team of spray painters and apprentices, fostering professional development.
- Ensure quality control measures are in place, conducting inspections to maintain consistency and durability.
- Collaborate with fabrication and project teams to align painting processes with production schedules.
- Uphold strict workplace health and safety protocols, including hazardous materials handling and PPE compliance.
- Effectively plan resources to meet project timelines and budget requirements.
Candidate Requirements:
- Trade qualification in spray painting, industrial coatings, or a related field.
- Minimum of 1 year experience in industrial spray painting, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Strong technical expertise in surface preparation, industrial coatings, and spray application techniques.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and job specifications accurately.
- Proven leadership and team management skills with experience in training and mentoring staff.
- High level of attention to detail with a commitment to quality assurance.
- Understanding of workplace safety, hazardous material handling, and compliance regulations.
