The Role

The purpose of the role is to assist in handling aspects of general loss adjusting and other consultancy assignments, within Charles Taylor adjusting with a strong focus on Quantity Surveying, Project Management, and Building Consultancy

The role will require you to provide an efficient and high-quality claims handling service for various insurers and internal stakeholders. You will be providing direct support to associated business lines and policy holders whilst reporting to their Insurers in respect to the claim investigation findings.

Key Responsibilities
  1. To perform a loss adjusting and Quantity Surveying/Building Consulting functions in respect of new claims and those already handled in the offices which have been triaged by Senior staff or received as Direct Appointments. This will involve, but not be limited to: -
  • Receiving and acknowledging new claims instructions
  • Managing and coordinating claims in a timely and professional manner
  • Undertaking site visits and meeting with Insurers, Reinsurers, Brokers, Claimants, Insureds and other interested parties
  • Preparing preliminary reports commenting in detail on all aspects of the claim including legal and policy liability considerations, potential quantum and future actions
  • Instructing and controlling surveyors, lawyers, forensic scientists and other experts as necessary
  • Communicating regularly with all interested parties, calculating and approving interim payments, preparing interim reports and other communications
  • Calculating, negotiating and agreeing settlement of claims, and preparing accurate final reports.
  • Provide Quantity Surveying functions, act as Project Manager, and Building Consultancy as the role requires
  1. Deliver effective marketing of CTA Property Adjusting team with a focus on Quantity Surveying services. This will include, but not be limited to: -
  • Business Developing working closely with existing Clients
  • Helping to identify and plan approaches to new Clients
  • Hosting and attending networking events outside of office hours
  • Assisting in the preparation and delivery of presentations and tenders to Clients and potential Clients
  • Assisting others with their marketing functions.
  1. Adhoc Duties:
  • As requested by your Line Manager or relevant Director, to perform reasonable ad hoc duties within the Job Holder’s capabilities.
Required/Preferred Skills
  • University degree qualified in Quantity Surveying / other relevant subject
  • Minimum of 12 years’ experience of relevant post-graduate experience, preferably in handling Insurance related matters.
  • Holding professional certification
  • Holding adjusting certification (Diploma of Loss Adjusting) or willing to undertake further study in this regard
  • Computer, Microsoft office suite literacy
