The ideal candidate will have a passion for erecting scaffolding and ladders and using drop sheets to protect surrounding areas from paint splatter. Prepares surfaces by removing old paint or wallpaper, repairing woodwork, filling cracks, and smoothing surfaces.Selects and mixes paints to achieve the required colours and finishes. Applies paint, varnish, and stain using brushes, rollers, or spray equipment. May also repair or replace glass in window frames and lay or repair wall and floor tiles.
Position Responsibilities and Tasks:
- Sets up access equipment like ladders and scaffolding and covers nearby areas with protective sheets to avoid paint damage.
- Strips away old coatings and wallpaper, mends damaged wood surfaces, fills imperfections, and prepares surfaces for painting.
- Mixes pigments, oils, and additives to create custom paint colours and achieve the desired finish and texture.
- Applies paint, stains, and varnishes efficiently using various tools such as brushes, rollers, or spray machines.
- Installs wallpaper with attention to detail, ensuring pattern alignment and neat edge trimming.
- Keeps tools, brushes, and workspaces clean and in good condition throughout and after each job.
- Handles basic window repairs, including fitting and replacing glass in wooden or metal frames when required.
- Installs and maintains tiled surfaces on walls or floors, addressing any damage or wear.
- Smooths and seals surfaces to ensure an even, high-quality application of paint or finish.
- Ensures all preparatory and finishing work meets safety and quality standards while maintaining a tidy work environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Relevant qualifications.
- A minimum of one years' experience in a similar painting and decorating role.
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with team members, supervisors, and clients.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes and accuracy in colour matching.
- Skilled in using painting tools and equipment, including brushes, rollers, spray guns, and preparation tools.
Salary: This is a full-time position with competitive remuneration between: $73,000 - $80,000 p.a. plus superannuation for a 38-hour work week.
