As the demand for such services grows, they seek an energetic, passionate and qualified Disability Support Worker to join their team in Ryde in NSW.
The Role
The Disability Support Worker is responsible for providing personalized support and care to individuals with disabilities, enabling them to maintain independence and participate in their communities. This role requires a strong commitment to person-centred care and the ability to promote the rights and wellbeing of people with disabilities.
This is a full-time role with an annual salary set at $73,740 plus superannuation.
Responsibilities
Direct Support and Personal Care
Providing assistance with personal care activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting while maintaining the dignity and privacy of clients
Supporting clients with medication administration according to established healthcare plans and organizational procedures
Assisting with mobility and transfer needs using appropriate equipment and techniques
Preparing and supporting meal times, including assistance with eating and drinking as required
Daily Living Support
Supporting clients in domestic activities such as meal preparation, household maintenance, and shopping
Assisting clients to attend appointments, social activities, and community engagements
Providing transport support using company or personal vehicles when required
Supporting clients to maintain their home environment and personal belongings
Social and Community Participation
Facilitating client participation in social and recreational activities
Supporting clients to maintain and develop relationships with family and friends
Assisting clients to access and participate in community activities and programs
Promoting client independence and skill development in daily activities
Documentation and Reporting
Maintaining accurate and detailed client records
Recording and reporting any incidents or concerns according to organizational procedures
Completing daily progress notes and required documentation
Contributing to the development and review of individual support plans
Health and Safety
Implementing risk management strategies to ensure client and worker safety
Following infection control procedures and maintaining a safe working environment
Identifying and reporting potential hazards and safety concerns
Responding appropriately to emergencies according to organizational procedures
Requirements
In order to be shortlisted for this position, the right candidate needs to have:
Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability) or equivalent
A minimum of 2 year of relevant experience
At least 2 years of experience and knowledge of disability support
At least 2 years of experience working in the area of complex disability support with people
Valid First Aid and CPR certification
Current National Police Check (within 3 years)
Working with Children Check
NDIS Worker Screening clearance
Valid Driver's License
Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module
Meeting physical fitness requirements for lifting and transferring clients.
Dependability and punctuality.
Effective communication skills with clients, families, and healthcare professionals.
Cultural sensitivity and respect for diverse backgrounds.
Documentation skills for keeping client care records.
Be able to handle pressure in a professional manner
Have positive past employment work references
