As Australia’s leading recycled and kraft paper manufacturer, Visy Pulp and Paper is a big part of our business. Our integrated recycling and manufacturing operations means we collect paper and cardboard from households and businesses and turn it into up to 100% recycled paper.We are also home to the world’s most environmentally friendly kraft paper mill in Tumut, providing high-quality kraft paper for domestic and international markets. The paper we produce supplies our board facilities across Australia and New Zealand, where it is remanufactured into cardboard packaging for the food and beverage industry.
Role details
As the Mechanical Engineer, you will drive implementation of engineering best practice for our Visy Paper Mill 8 (based in Brisbane) to increase overall plant efficiency. You will utilize your understanding of paper making best practices with an aim to implement these at the mills, thus improving asset reliability and performance.
Your strong communication skills and ability to work under pressure will suit this fast-paced environment. And your attitude where no job is too small, passion to learn new skills, and ability to lead by example, will fit right into the team.
What you will doReporting to the Reliability and Maintenance Manager, you will:
Lead excellence in plant condition monitoring through participation / auditing of mechanical rounds completion and quality.Develop proactive and preventative maintenance initiatives through implementation of engineering analysis of plant performance.
Investigate failures using Root Cause Analysis techniques, design and implement corrective and preventive solutions to eliminate the cause or to reduce the likelihood of failure.
Facilitate JSEA and risk assessments with internal staff and external contractors.
Understand and adhere to all Visy management systems, policies and procedures, and other regularity body requirements.
What you will bring to the team
Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical) with minimum 3 years postgraduate experience.Experience in a 24/7 heavy manufacturing or processing environment.
Strong analytical skills, a high level of initiative and the ability to work autonomously.
Continuous improvement mindset, proactive problem solving with solution focused approach.
CMMS experience.
Flexibility for on-call (rostered)
