The Role:
Pay: $44.34 – $53.41 per hour
As an Aquatic Instructor, you will be responsible for leading and instructing a variety of water-based classes, including but not limited to aqua aerobics, water resistance training, swim lessons, and synchronized swimming. You’ll provide expert guidance to individuals of all fitness levels, ensuring their safety while creating an engaging, enjoyable, and effective aquatic fitness experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead group aquatic fitness classes including water aerobics, aqua Zumba, water resistance training, and swim fitness.
- Instruct swimming lessons for all ages and skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers.
- Demonstrate proper techniques for swimming strokes, water exercises, and fitness routines.
- Ensure the safety of participants by maintaining a strong presence in the pool area and monitoring water conditions.
- Tailor classes to different fitness levels and provide modifications or alternatives when needed.
- Provide encouragement and motivation to participants, helping them achieve their fitness goals in a fun and safe environment.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized pool area before, during, and after classes.
- Stay up to date with the latest trends in aquatic fitness and swimming instruction.
- Provide feedback to participants to help improve their swimming and aquatic fitness skills.
What We’re Looking For:
- Qualifications & Experience: Certification in Aquatic Instruction or Swimming Teaching (e.g., Swim Australia, AUSTSWIM, or equivalent). Experience teaching aquatic classes or swimming lessons is preferred.
- Passion for Water Fitness: A strong interest in water-based activities and helping others improve their fitness in the pool.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly communicate instructions to a variety of participants, both in a group setting and one-on-one.
- Energetic & Motivating Personality: A positive attitude and the ability to engage participants and create an enjoyable environment in the pool.
- First Aid & CPR Certification: Current First Aid and CPR qualifications (or willingness to obtain).
- Safety Conscious: A strong understanding of water safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Team Player: Ability to collaborate with other instructors, staff, and members to create a welcoming, professional, and supportive atmosphere.
- Flexibility: Availability to teach classes during peak hours, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends.
Pay: $44.34 – $53.41 per hour
