About the role
This role reports to our seasoned Electronic Instrumentation and Control Technician and the Packing Operations Manager. You’ll be responsible for ensuring our cherry grader is well maintained during the off season (Feb-Aug) to ensure is all set during our peak production period during late-spring summer.
We’re on the lookout for a skilled technician who’s not only great at assembling, installing, and disassembling equipment, but also a pro at picking the right tools to keep things running smoothly. This role is perfect for someone with a keen eye for detail, a passion for hands-on work, and the drive to collaborate seamlessly across our Quality, Production, and Infrastructure teams.

During our exciting season from October to February, when everything is buzzing with activity, the role supports grader operations, assists in leading our seasonal workers, and ensures that each day the cherry grader and plant run like clockwork.
Some of the responsibilities but not limited to include:
- Monitor grader equipment by ensuring daily checks and services is performed through liaising with the Electronic Instrumentation Technician, Packing & Operations Manager and Maintenance crew for servicing and maintenance requirements
- Assisting with the design and requirements of existing and new plant and equipment
- Selecting tools and equipment required for new installs and maintenance requirements
- Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems
- Drive and operate a cherry grader /optical sorter (and other related equipment) used for the processing of fresh cherry produce
- Together with the Quality Optimizer, achieve optimized productivity outcomes through maximizing grading efficiency and accuracy
- Actively contribute to daily pre-start meeting for the production team, including safety discussions, daily task allocation and communication of critical information (e.g. Grader operation, quality conditions, production schedule)

- Forklift ticket would be advantageous
- Engineering Degree is highly preferred
- Enjoy working in multi-diverse teams
- Committed and reliable, with the ability to travel to the primary work location in the stunning Yarra Valley area.
- Technical Expertise in grader operations including data collection and analysis would be an advantage
- Strong hands-on experience in mechanical maintenance is essential to keep our operations running smoothly
- Solid IT knowledge
- Experience in using hand and power tools for general maintenance and repair
- Ability to multitask, stay organised, and thrive in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, especially during our buzzing peak season
The salary band for this position is between $74,650 – $84,650 per annum, plus superannuation.
