About the position
CSL Australia is currently looking for a permanent full time Chief Engineer to join our transhipment vessel; Donnacona. This vessel operates in Cape Preston, Western Australia and is a 24/7 operation for our customer: CITIC Pacific Mining. Reporting to the Master, the Chief Engineer is the head of the Engine Department.
In addition, the Chief Engineer will be responsible for:- The safe/efficient operation, maintenance and repair of all machinery and electrical equipment onboard;
- Supervising all Engineering Officers, while adhering to budgets and purchasing procedures of the Company;
- Safeguarding the Overs’ and Company’s interest at all times;
- Assisting the Chief Officer in the operation of the ship’s cargo equipment;
- Keeping the Chief Officer advised of any bunker, lubricating oils or sludge transfers which may affect the ship’s trim, stress and/or stability.
- Educational requirement: as per AMSA Marine Order 72 – Engineer class 1 (required)
o Minimum 12 months sea time as a First Engineer (required)
- Certificate of Safety Training (STCW III/2) (desirable)
- Work Safely at Heights Certification (desirable)
- Enter and Work in Confined Space Certification (desirable)
- Hold, or be eligible to obtain a Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) (required)
- Australian Citizen or unlimited Australian Working Rights
- Living in Australia
- Be comfortable wearing a respirator
