Sterilisation Leader

Reporting to the Manager, Sterilisation, this role is responsible for ensuring the safe and effective operation, maintenance and calibration of Cook Australia's sterilisation chambers and ancillary equipment.

This position requires effective planning, ongoing continuous improvement and the efficient management of resources to deliver lifesaving medical devices to patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Schedule production, maintenance and Sterilisation Technician roster for the sterilisation chambers and ancillary equipment to ensure production, maintenance and engineering requirements are met.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Sterilisation Technicians (as required).
  • Identify and implement continuous improvements within the sterilisation area.
  • Communicate with steriliser stakeholders including but not limited to members of the sterilisation department, Manufacturing Engineering, Research and Development and other production staff.
  • Identify training and development needs within the department.
  • Operate sterilisation chambers and ancillary equipment.
  • Ensure the team operates in a safe and effective manner.
  • Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance for the sterilisation chambers and ancillary equipment.
  • Perform calibration of instrumentation associated with the sterilisation chambers and ancillary equipment.
  • Complete risk assessments and manage external contractors during plant upgrades and maintenance.

Qualifications:

What we need from you:

  • Ability to work Monday to Friday with occasional overtime to support the operation of the steriliser area.
  • Significant experience working in a processing/manufacturing environment essential.
  • Experience working to standard operating procedures and following WH&S regulations essential.
  • Experience leading a small team in a processing/manufacturing environment desirable.
  • An understanding of sterilisation operations/process desirable.
  • Experience working with toxic and/or explosive chemicals and hazardous atmospheres desirable.
  • Experience working with computer controlled production processes and PLCs desirable.
  • Experience in planning and performing equipment maintenance and calibration desirable.
