About us
Alfred Mental & Addiction Health (AMAH) is responsible for the operation of services, which focus on people with a severe mental illness residing in the Inner South Eastern area of Melbourne.The single most important goal of AMAH is to create an environment that facilitates clinical recovery, supports individual recovery efforts and strives to minimise service system barriers to the recovery process.
Alfred Health Psychology includes Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology and Forensic Psychology working across AMAH, Acute and Subacute Services. There are approximately 115 psychologists employed at Alfred Health. The majority of psychologists work within AMAH and the Director of Psychology has a dual reporting line to both the Director of Operations AMAH and the Director of Allied Health, Alfred Health.
What you’ll be doing
In this role, you will be responsible for the professional standards and governance of psychologists employed at Alfred Health. You will be operationally responsible for some of the psychologists who work in the acute and subacute services. A key aspect of your role is the development of positive, collaborative working relationships with AMAH Managers and Heads of Service, Allied Health Managers and other Acute, Subacute and Community Managers.
About you
Registration under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.Endorsement as a specialist Psychologist under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009.
Relevant Masters or Doctoral degree in Psychology.
Minimum ten years’ experience working as a registered psychologist
Prior experience of working in a mental health care and/or acute/subacute hospital setting
Experience in the delivery and/or management of a Psychology service in a hospital environment
Extensive experience in the delivery of Psychology services
Extensive experience in the supervision and mentoring of Psychologists, students and support staff.
