Our client, Lygon Restaurant Pty Ltd T/A Bibi ji is an iconic restaurant renowned for delivering exceptional Indian cuisine and creating a vibrant dining experience with warm hospitality. Bibi ji is looking for a qualified and skilled Chef to join the team on a permanent full-time basis and help continue the legacy of culinary excellence.
The restaurant offers a dynamic atmosphere where authentic food meets friendly service in a lively, modern setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Chef to be part of a team passionate about food, culture, and creativity. The client is seeking a professional who thrives in a fast-paced kitchen and can take ownership of delivering high-quality dishes that delight customers.
In this role your main responsibilities include:- Prepare, cook, and present authentic Indian dishes with consistency and creativity.
- Develop new menu items, ensuring seasonal relevance and customer preferences are incorporated.
- Maintain food preparation and storage in compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
- Collaborate with the management team to control food costs and ensure profitability.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff to maintain consistency and high-quality output.
- Monitor portion sizes and manage ingredients efficiently to reduce wastage.
- Ensure all kitchen equipment is cleaned and maintained in proper working order.
- Oversee the preparation of special dietary requirements, such as vegetarian and gluten-free options.
- Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to ensure timely delivery of high-quality ingredients.
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and adapt new cooking techniques to elevate the menu.
The successful candidate will have a passion for the hospitality industry, be career focused and have strong leadership qualities.
Other key skills and experience will include:- Relevant qualification at the level of a Diploma in Hospitality OR at least Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery AND at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Proven experience as a Chef specializing in Indian cuisine.
- In-depth knowledge of Indian spices, cooking techniques, and regional dishes.
- Ability to perform well under pressure in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and motivate the kitchen team.
- Extensive food and wine knowledge.
- Demonstrated experience in customer service management.
You must be a quick learner who is also reliable, creative, organized, hard-working and well-mannered. Our client is looking for a hands-on manager that will lead from the front.
