Geotechnical Engineer - Perth
Northern Star Resources are seeking for a number of Geotechnical Engineers across our Northern Goldfields Operations. These roles are offered working FIFO ex Perth on 8 days on 6 days off rotation.
Our Geotechnical Engineer will be an integral part of the Technical Services department and is responsible for providing operations with all geotechnical requirements to achieve safe and efficient production targets.
Your main responsibilities will include:
Underground and surface inspections in response to geotechnical hazard reports or other requests.Maintenance of geotechnical hazard reporting and QA/QC systems.
Data collection and analysis of information from instrumentation, monitoring systems and underground and surface inspection records.
Provide geotechnical support and assistance to the operation, ensuring that the operation complies with all the relevant company and statutory requirements.
Provide geotechnical input to the mine design and scheduling process.
Design the ground support and monitor its performance.
Conduct geotechnical mapping of underground and surface excavations.
Provide support with maintaining the seismic system.
Provide support with seismic data processing, analysis & reporting.
Required skills and experience:
Degree in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent)Minimum 2-3 years of relevant experience in the mining industry.
Knowledge of rock mechanics, tunnelling, surface excavations or mining engineering.
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
A current “C” Class Western Australian Driver’s Licence.
Expertise in Deswik software or similar.
Good communication skills.
Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations.
Familiar with the Seismic System & Software Suite.
Familiar with Map3D & Phase2 Numerical Modelling softwares.
Familiar with Dips & Unwedge Geotechnical software.
