Deckhands and Fishing Hands

• We operate a fleet of 8 vessels, working in the Northern Prawn Fishery and the West Coast prawn fisheries – Kimberley, Nickol Bay and Onslow
• Roles includes both sea time and shore-based duties
• Sea time would typically be 28 weeks or more per annum

• Salary from $67,000 per annum plus superannuation and other entitlements under the National Employment Standard
• Bonus may be payable dependent on catch.

• Experience in prawn trawling essential
• Net mending, wire splicing and seafood processing skills essential
• Handling ropes and wires, and operating mooring equipment when berthing and unberthing
• Standing lookout watches at sea and adjusting the vessel’s course as directed
• Assisting with cargo operations using on-board equipment and stowing and securing cargo
• Patrolling vessel to ensure safety of the vessel and cargo
• Performing routine maintenance and checks on deck equipment, cargo gear, rigging, and lifesaving and firefighting appliances
• Attaching gear and fastening towing cables to nets
• Hauling in fishing gear and removing fish and other marine life
• Sorting, cleaning, grading, preserving, stowing and refrigerating catch
