Product Designer

We’re looking for someone to join our Essential Assessment (EA) team as a Product Designer for a 6-month fixed-term contract. EA is our Primary Numeracy and Literacy assessment platform loved by more than 2800+ schools across Australia.
In this role, you'll conduct user research to identify key challenges and opportunities, designing practical solutions that enhance our platform. As a strong communicator and team player, you'll collaborate closely with our Product & Engineering teams and key stakeholders to deliver a seamless, high-quality experience for our customers.

What you will do- Advocate for the end user: Gain a deep understanding of our customers’ needs, perspectives and goals by engaging directly with our Australian educators, participating in research initiatives and conducting evaluative testing. You will use tools like personas and journey maps to align the team on customer insights
- Design impactful solutions across the product experience: Work with key stakeholders to balance customer needs, business objectives and technical constraints. You’ll bring your expertise in user experience, interaction and visual design to create effective solutions while iterating and improving existing designs
- Collaborate closely with engineers: Work hand-in-hand with our talented team to ensure flawless design implementation and a high-quality user experience, paying attention to every detail in order to deliver exceptional results.
- EdTech experience is highly desirable, though not a requirement - most important is a genuine interest in education
- 3+ years of product design experience with modern cloud software (experience with Figma and Dovetail is a plus)
- Have a valid WWCC (working with children's check) or able to obtain one
- Strong skills in user research, using both qualitative and quantitative methods
- Experience across the full design process, including product discovery, prototyping and delivering detailed solutions
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with a collaborative approach to teamwork
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work
- Skilled in data-informed decision-making, with the ability to interpret and leverage data for design decisions
