Senior Project Accountant | 24 Month Fixed Term
A critical hire having significant contribution to a significant project, a major supply chain and logistics system. You will work closely with the Project Director and CFO, maintaining the financial functions within this multi-million dollar project, ensuring the integrity and transparency of financial data to facilitate planning and decision making.

The Role
Our client is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to make a significant contribution to one of their most significant projects - a major supply chain and logistics system. You will work closely with the Project Director and Project Managers, maintaining the financial functions within this multi-million dollar project, ensuring the integrity and transparency of financial data to facilitate planning and decision making.
This role requires an individual with robust business acumen and cultural awareness to collaborate with key members of the project teams across multiple global offices. You will develop cost tracking processes, analyse and report on variances to forecast, and provide support in the completion of claims, variations, and future bid/tender opportunities.
Key Performance Areas
Project Financial Management- Collaborate with the Project Director and Project Managers to ensure preparation and review of monthly forecast (cost to complete and cash flow)
- Prepare and review cost variance analysis and reporting against prior forecasts and budgets
- Provide continuous oversight of project performance and forecasts to ensure financial review and control
- Enhance processes used to calculate accurate, timely and efficient reporting of financial results
- Manage all financial transactions related to the project, including those involving international stakeholders
- Participate in project risk management processes including maintenance of finance related risks in the risk register
- Work with procurement teams and engineers to ensure financial alignment across all project aspects
- Own Project Trust Account Compliance to all relevant financial regulations, and company policies
- Assist with internal and external audits related to project finances
- Assist Project Director with the valuation and submission of monthly claim
- Maintain updated cash flow forecast by month for the project duration
- Co-ordinate the accounts payable and receivable functions for the projects
- Review weekly cash flow outgoing requirements for project and provide updates to treasury team
- Oversee Foreign Exposure (FX) management and hedging in conjunction with CFO
- Assist Project Director and Project Managers with commercial reviews of subcontract and supplier agreements
- Aid Project Director in managing commercial risks and devise strategies to overcome them
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve commercial objectives
- Work effectively with the client to manage financial aspects of the project
- Assist with monthly project review presentations
- Participate in weekly project meetings
- Assist Project Team with any arrangements relating to the project or site
- Assist the Project Director with future tendering/pricing opportunities ensuring all cost inputs are analysed and well understood
- Actively participate in health and safety matters

- Minimum of 5+ years of project accounting experience, ideally overseeing large and/or complex construction or manufacturing projects
- A relevant tertiary qualification
- A professional accounting certification (CA/CPA or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of revenue recognition accounting principles relating to construction contracts
- Familiarity with Project Management Software is an advantage
- Commercial awareness and acumen
- Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking abilities
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the capacity to convey financial information to non financial stakeholders.
