Mechanical Technician
The sawmill has a history of providing “Link n Lock” roofing timber props and other specialized mining timbers to mines in Central Queensland—a service that CQ Sawmilling Pty Ltd intends to continue offering.

We strive to minimise the business's impact on the environment and will take all necessary measures to ensure compliance with environmental authority conditions.Our goal is to generate very little waste at the mills, and any waste produced will be treated appropriately before disposal. Most timber by-products, such as sawdust, woodchips, firewood, and side flitches, are sold to garden suppliers or the general public.
We are seeking highly skilled and experienced Mechanical Technicians to join and work with our team.
Your duties will include but are not limited to: Maintaining and repairing range of mobile and sawmilling equipment
Conduct root cause analysis, fault-finding and diagnosing efficient solutions to machine breakdownsTroubleshoot mechanical issues
Installs, removes, inspects and repairs mechanical spare parts like bearings, seals on typical mechanical equipment.
Disassembles, assembles, observes, repairs, tests, collects data and prepares reports on equipment, as tasks related to maintenance.
Maintaining non-electrical safety.
Perform routine maintenance on equipment and machinesEnsuring that products meet compliance regulations.
Carry out work instructions as given by Supervisor, work specifications, equipment operation.
Supports improvement projects.
May fabricates and repair metal products and parts by using machine shop tools and equipment.
Controls downtime by performing routine preventative maintenance requirements, daily equipment inspections, and monitoring machine operational performance.
Perform duties consistent with established safety rules and procedures.
Installing and commissioning new equipment as directed.
Communicating with and supporting engineers
Documenting machine safety and maintenance
To be considered for this role, you must have: Trade Qualifications and +5 years proven relevant experience
Proficiency in diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining mechanical equipmentStrong knowledge of troubleshooting technique and problem-solving skills
Ability to interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams
Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to maintenance tasks
Physically fit and able to work in various conditions
Ability to work well both independently and in a team environment
Strong communication skills
Self-motivated, organised, punctual and reliable
Must have great work ethics
