Production Horticulture Supervisor QLD/NT/NSW/WA Seasonal Work Salary: $72, 000 per annum + Superannuation

Harvest Workers Pty Ltd is a Queensland based horticultural company operating in regional and remote QLD, NSW, NT and WA. We are currently seeking an experienced full-time Production Horticulture Supervisor to join our team. Our business is seasonal, with fluctuating daily work volumes.

Thus, it is essential that you can work flexible hours. Start times are typically early and the hours can vary depending on the weather, market prices, market demand and other factors. This is a hands-on supervisory role that will often require you to assist your team to meet daily work targets.

Primary Duties will include:
  • Ensuring scheduled crops for intended harvest have passed the withholding period.
  • Ensuring that all specialised harvest equipment is maintained.
  • Ensuring correct harvest to suit conditions of crop, soil moisture and variety to minimise any mechanical damage.
  • Identify and report unusual disease or signs of pests in plants.
  • Carry out emergency disease or plant pest control procedures at infected premises.
  • Recruiting, managing, training, and coordinating groups of harvest workers to match harvest requirements.
  • Liaising with Farm Operations Manager, Harvest Workers Management and Administration, Shed Production Manager and Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Abiding by all Harvest Workers Policies and Procedures.
  • Recording and documenting payroll data.
  • Ensuring quality and grading of harvest to minimise damage and meet market specifications.
  • Monitoring crops to facilitate forecasting for harvest logistics, including marketing, freight, packaging, and all staff requirements.
Secondary Duties may include:
  • Transport and store chemicals
  • Prepare and apply chemicals to control pests, weeds, and diseases.
  • Operate chemical application machinery and equipment.
  • Perform shed nursery activities.
  • Establish horticultural crops.
  • Regulate crops.
It is essential that you:
  • Are an Australian citizen or Australian permanent resident and can provide documentary evidence of this.
  • Are willing to work in regional and remote areas of Australia.
  • Are willing to relocate based on seasonal demands.
  • Have at least one year of experience in production horticulture in a similar role and/or hold relevant qualifications (such as Certificate III or IV
in production horticulture or higher).
  • Hold a current driver’s license and have access to a car.
  • Have excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Have excellent communication skills.
It is preferrable that you:
  • Have sound knowledge of workplace health and safety.
  • Hold a current Chemcert (or equivalent) certification.
  • Hold a current forklift license and have operational experience.
  • Have experience with Microsoft Excel and Word.
