About the role:

We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer to design, implement and support telemetry systems and reporting solutions within CDC’s IT Environments. The incumbent will act as a steward for capabilities development and will be responsible for improving processes, setting up ETL between source systems and reporting tools and creating dashboards for both internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Design, implement and support complex data processing and visualisation solutions.
  • Create, manage and maintain ETL solutions.
  • Implement effective monitoring for all components within a solution.
  • Scale-out and refine telemetry processing solutions, including onboarding of additional data sources as required.
  • Build distributed, highly available MQTT Brokers across multiple regions.
  • Create, maintain, and manage PowerBI Data Analysis Expressions (DAX) measures, dashboards, and datasets.
  • Perform mapping and categorization of data using T-SQL.
  • Create and maintain data schemas.
  • Implement and support DevOps automation solutions.
  • Develop and maintain professional relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure the compliance of IT and OT solutions with CDC’s design guidelines, and all relevant policies and standards.
  • Create and maintain logical and detailed design documentation.
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures.
  • Liaise with 3rd Party vendors and customers.
  • Participate in incident resolution as required for telemetry solution and related systems.
  • Provide accurate, timely and cost-effective technical advice.
  • Support the broader activities of the Information and Security Team.
  • Other duties a directed from time to time.

About you:

  • 7+ years in business analysis and project delivery roles, demonstrating successful project outcomes, on-time execution, and on-budget success.
  • Experience in the use of relational and non-relational database technologies such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL/MariaDB, Redis/Valkey, MongoDB, Cosmos DB.
  • Experience in the deployment, configuration and management of virtualized infrastructure and systems.
  • Understanding of network fundamentals including switching, routing and firewalling
  • Experience within Microsoft Azure and M365 data processing and visualization technologies.
  • Experience with availability and performance monitoring tools and techniques.
  • Experience with scripting / programming, preferably using Bourne/Bash, Powershell, C# and Python.
  • Experience with Industrial Control Systems and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems OR with MQTT, Modbus, OPC-UA is a bonus!

Essential:

  • Australian Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain AGSVA Security Clearance at Negative Vetting 1 level.
