Motor Mechanic
The Client
Smart Tech Vehicle Diagnostics Pty Ltd based in Arundel, QLD is looking to employ a full-time trade qualified and experienced motor mechanic to work in their workshop.
The Role
As a Motor Mechanic, it is essential that you have the passion to carry out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner. Your primary role is to carry out testing, diagnosing and troubleshooting major faults and overhauling engines of motor vehicles and parts such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes of a wide range of motor vehicle types.
The annual salary is set between $73,500 – $76,000 depending on experience plus superannuation.
The Responsibilities
Some tasks may include
Operate effectively in an automotive environment, considering safety, timeframes, and organization of work area.
Diagnose, service, and repair faults to braking systems.
Source spare parts of Asian imports efficiently and cost-effectively.
Diagnose, service, and repair faults to electrical systems.
Diagnose, service, and repair faults to suspension systems.
Repair light vehicles’ automatic and manual transmissions.
Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, and other parts referring to manuals as necessary.
Carry out minor body repairs and minor trim repairs.
Apply extensive knowledge of the Asian import automotive industry to deliver exceptional service.
Leverage reconditioning expertise to optimize engine and transmission performance.
Negotiate and purchase high-quality used parts, engines, and transmissions during international business travel.
Provide accurate quotes and manage used parts sales.
Diagnose, repair, and replace engine management/fuel injection components.
Test and repair electrical systems such as lighting, instrumentation, and ignition.
Respond to customer needs and inquiries.
Carry out diagnostic procedures.
Use and maintain tools and equipment in the workplace required for daily tasks.
Determine vehicle serviceability by conducting test drives and adjusting control systems.
Changing engine oils, lubrications, and engine tune-ups during regular vehicle servicing.
Carry out various tests and adjustments in mechanical parts after being replaced or repaired for optimal performance.
The Requirements:
AQF Certificate III or Certificate IV in the relevant field is required
At least 2 years of relevant experience in a commercial workshop setting
Must have at least 2 years work experience with Intercontinental, European and Asian car makes.
Must have at least 2 years’ experience with oxy, electric and MIG welding techniques
Must have 2 years of relevant experience in tyre fitting.
Must be multilingual.
Experience working with mechanical systems
Must know how to operate diagnostic equipment
Experience working with mechanical systems
Good with hand and power tools
The ability to work independently and as part of a team
Able to pass a drug and alcohol test
