As a Maintenance Fitter / Production Technician, your role is vital in ensuring smooth and efficient production operations. Your expertise will be key in delivering exceptional product quality and performance by focusing on preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement.

In this role, you will be responsible for installation, commissioning, preventative maintenance, routine inspections and repairs, training on a variety of semi and fully automated injection moulding and packaging equipment and robotic adjustments.

Mechatronic experience and a comprehensive understanding of machinery are highly valued to minimize downtime and maintain efficient production.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, your key responsibilities will include: -

  • Diagnosing faults and repairing equipment or process failures promptly to minimise downtime
  • Maintaining equipment to ensure smooth and efficient production operations
  • Handling machine and robotic adjustments
  • Setting up machines including die changes
  • Developing and supporting proposals to increase machine capacity and throughput
  • Following planned maintenance activities which include being actively involved in maintenance planning, plant improvements and projects that will improve plant availability and efficiency
  • Maintaining computerised systems to guard against production delays or shutdowns of systems
  • Ensuring compliance with site quality and HACCP standards
  • Communicating and escalating issues across shifts to provide updates or solutions to the broader maintenance and operation groups
  • Assisting in training and upskilling the broader production team

We will provide ‘On-the-job’ training on all our equipment, as well as specialised training from our equipment suppliers.

About You: The successful applicant will have the following: -
  • Australian Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Automation (Recent trade completion is ideal)
  • Strong Mechanical/Electrical service and repair knowledge including hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Previous experience working in an environment that utilises high-speed packaging equipment including injection moulding, IML and packaging machines will be highly regarded
  • Experience with automation and robotics will be highly regarded
  • A genuine interest in automation and technology, with the aptitude to learn new concepts and procedures
  • Knowledge of business operations including Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Safe Operating Procedures (SOPs)
  • Knowledge of ISO and HACCP principles
  • Strong team player and customer-focused
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Ability to work autonomously and self-manage time effectively
  • Computer literate in MS Office programs
  • Focused on achieving results
  • Current Forklift licence (and if you don’t have one, we’ll support you in getting one)
