Mick's Meat Barn is a whole carcass butchery specialising in pasture fed beef, direct from the farmer and free range chicken. Our main focus is our retail trade with a small but growing wholesale trade as well. We are located at Kawana Waters on the Sunshine Coast and we are open 7 days, so the ability to work one weekend day is an advantage.
Currently we require a trade-qualified butcher to join our fast-paced team.
Ideally you are enthusiastic and energetic and have a minimum of 3 years (preferably 5 years) experience as a qualified tradesman and are meticulous with your attention to detail. Not only will you posses the technical skill to perform your butchery duties but also enjoy food, whether eating it or cooking it.You will also have the opportunity to help shape the next generation of butchers as we normally have 1-2 apprentices on staff at any time.
Main Duties will include but are not limited to:- Breaking a carcase into primal cuts using your knife skills as well as being able to operate a bandsaw
- Slice and prepare meat for the display case
- Serving customers and taking their payments
- Abide by company policies and procedures at all times including company dress standards
It will be necessary for you to maintain a high standard of cleanliness in relation to workspace and products and adhere to company policies, Q-Safe and Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) procedures.
Salary will be in the range of $65k to $80k depending on hours and days worked
