Our client, Mantello Kia is seeking a Motor Mechanic to join their team on a full-time basis. Manello Kia is a trusted and well-established car dealership located in Fawkner, Victoria. The Role:

As a Motor Mechanic, you must have the passion to carry out mechanical servicing duties in an effective and timely manner. Your primary role is to carry out testing, diagnosing and troubleshooting major faults as well as overhauling engines of motor vehicles and parts such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes on a wide range of motor vehicle types.

The annual salary is $73,150 plus superannuation.

The Responsibilities:

• Identify problems, determine the relationship between cause and effect, and examine the information from different sources to determine the best course of action.
• Complete vehicle details on requisition order – kilometres, engine number, registration number, etc.
• Lifts the vehicle by utilising a hydraulic jack or hoist, enabling access to mechanical components fastened beneath the vehicle.
• Repair or replace worn and faulty parts by removing assemblies such as engines, transmissions, differentials or steering gear; dismantle them and check parts, referring to manuals as necessary.
• Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies, use various instruments to make sure they are working properly and put them back into the vehicle.
• Perform preventive maintenance, such as checking fluid levels, brake systems, steering, generating, ignition, and electrical wiring systems.
• Diagnose, repair and replace engine management/fuel injection components.
• Use electronic test equipment to locate and correct malfunctions in lighting, instrumentation, electronic fuel injection, ignition, and emissions control systems.
• Supervise apprentices when required.
• Maintains the appearance and presentation of the services area as well as ensures tools and equipment are always clean and tidy.
• Return specialist tools and reference materials to their designated locations.
• Ensure hazardous substances are disposed of appropriately.
• Follow occupational health and safety practices.

The Requirements:

• Must hold an AQF Certificate III in Automotive.
• Should have one to two (1-2) years of relevant experience in a commercial workshop setting.
• Should have experience working with mechanical systems.
• Must have strong mechanical aptitude.
• Proficient with hand and power tools.
• Can work independently and as part of a team.
• Must be able to pass a drug and alcohol test.
• Should have verifiable work references.
