Data Engineer
The Data Engineer will work with the Business Intelligence and Analytics (BI&A) Team to contribute to the development of data extraction, transformation, load procedures, data management, analysis/reporting, and automation solutions that meet business needs and allow for flexible and robust analysis.
Your key responsibilitiesContribute to the development and maintenance of effective data administration, migration, integration, transformation, and loading procedures - implementing automation and other efficiencies where possible
Support the BI&A team to define, develop, and maintain data structures in alignment with data governance requirements
Perform data profiling and discovery on data sets to define, validate, determine value, and note possible use cases for the data to solve business problemsUndertake analysis of data to discover trends and develop insights that support business solutions, including the development of data/analytical models, reports, charts, and other visualisations to represent findings
Liaise with stakeholders within the team and around the University as required to determine business requirements
Maintain documentation for Business Intelligence processes
Your specific work capabilities (selection criteria)Relevant tertiary qualification (such as information technology or computer science) or equivalent work experience
Relevant experience with a variety of ETL and analytics tools as well as the willingness and flexibility to learn new tools as required
Experience working within the Azure BI Stack and/or Azure DevOps is highly regarded
Proficient in SQL, and a working knowledge modern programming languages such as Python, and R
Familiar with cloud technologies, Agile working methodologies and DevOps
Ability to define and develop data structures and models, and knowledge of traditional Data Warehouse design methodologies such as Kimball and/or Inmon is highly regarded
Relevant experience in data collection, transformation, profiling, and analysis
Analytical and problem-solving skills with a commitment to accuracy and attention to detail in the handling of data and the preparation of reportsHighly developed interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate complex information in an easily digestible format to stakeholders (verbally, written, and through dashboards)
Highly developed organisational skills with an ability to set priorities and meet strict deadlines
Ability to work independently, show initiative, and work productively as part of a team
Salary $70K - $90K
